By Train

Introduction yourself to one of the best scenic train rides in Austria, a train trip through Mariazeller Land. The Mariazell Railway is a narrow gauge track rail route running between the towns of St. Polten and Mariazell. Mariazell is located southwest of Vienna, on Route 20. Mariazell is accessible by train, but all trains that go there originate in St. Polten, which is about halfway between Vienna and Melk. Both Vienna and Salzburg have frequent daily trains to St. Polten. From St. Polten, take the narrow-gauge train to Mariazell (about 2.5 hours).

From the Mariazell train station Hotel Haus Franziskus can be easily reached, has being one of the closest Mariazell Hotels to the train station and if requested we would be more than gladly to meet you at the train station and take you or your luggage to the Hotel which is only 200 meters away.

By Bus

If the train schedule between St. Pölten and Mariazell is inconvenient, you can take one of the several daily buses that parallel the same route. Approaching our hotel by bus is also comfortable. The buses coming from Vienna or Graz stop at the 5 minute away walk from the hotels main bus stop.

By Car

From Vienna or Linz: go till St. Pölten on A1 motorway, than take B20 for 75 kilometers to the south, where Mariazell is already on the road signs

From Graz or Klagenfurt: go in the direction of Bruck an der Mur then take road B20 to the north, in the direction of Mariazell
